Elder and Sister Renlund to speak 'Face to Face' with LDS youth in Ghana

Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wife, Sister Ruth L. Renlund, will be answering questions from the youth in Africa during a regional Face to Face event on Aug. 5, reported The apostle and his wife will be filmed live from the new MTC in Accra, Ghana, the article said.

The Face to Face event will be a homecoming of sorts for Elder and Sister Renlund, according to Elder Renlund served in the Africa Southeast Presidency from 2009 to 2014, covering an area of 25 countries during that time.

“I want to be like these Congolese Saints, who pray for food every day, are grateful every day for food, are grateful for their families. They have nothing, but they have everything,” Elder Renlund said in the article.

Called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 2015, Elder Renlund stated that he and his wife are excited to be with the African people once more.

“While we lived in Africa we were frequently in awe of the immense faith we found in the members there and in the island nations of the Indian Ocean,” he said. “There is no question the light of the gospel shines brightly in their countenances. We look forward to being in their presence and basking in their love for the Lord again.”

The Face to Face event will be broadcasted in English, Portuguese, Malagasy and French for those living in the region. It may also be viewed by the general public on the LDS Youth Facebook page. The LDS Youth Instagram page and the Aug. 2017 New Era magazine are also currently featuring stories of the LDS youth in Africa.
