Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash on I-80

A man was in critical condition Sunday after his motorcycle crashed along I-80 at about 500 East. The man was thrown from the motorcycle after he lost control when the bike's rear tire went flat, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

SALT LAKE CITY — A man was in critical condition Sunday after his motorcycle crashed along I-80 at about 500 East. The man was thrown from the motorcycle when the bike's rear tire went flat and he lost control, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The rider, who was traveling westbound about 3:45 p.m., attempted to move to the left shoulder of the interstate.

The rider, who was wearing a cap-style helmet, suffered significant facial and head injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Several lanes of I-80 westbound were closed while the crash was cleared and investigated.
