MILLCREEK — A 58-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a standoff with police that lasted several hours, authorities said.

Unified police confirmed that Randy Davis had holed up in his home at 3368 E. Crestwood Drive beginning around 3:30 a.m. Monday, after allegedly attacking his wife and threatening her with a gun. The woman was able to escape the home, the agency said.

Davis made homicidal and suicidal threats when officers arrived and tried to get him to come out of the home, Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke said.

Unified police confirmed just after noon that Davis was in custody and shortly later gave an update that he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot. An evacuation in place in the area was then lifted.

It wasn't clear why Davis attacked his wife, Lohrke said. The woman was treated at the scene for injuries that were not life threatening, he said.

Officers located Davis after hearing a gunshot inside the home, according to the lieutenant.
