WEST VALLEY CITY — A 26-year-old man was killed late Friday when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on 3500 South.
Oswaldo Perez Lopez was headed west on 3500 South and about to cross the intersection at 4800 West about 11 p.m. when he collided with a passenger car turning north on 4800 West.
Lopez was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, West Valley Police Lt. Jeff Conger said. "It appeared he was also traveling at a high rate of speed," he said.
"Not wearing a helmet and going faster than the speed limit are not good things, especially when it leads to an accident," Conger said.
The driver of the car was not injured, and police said they are not likely to file charges related to the accident.
Conger said there might have also been "issues with the motorcycle," as it appeared the lights weren't working at the time of the accident.
