A new report suggests that a southern Utah city is adding more jobs than the rest of the state.

24/7 Wall St. published a report this week that found St. George is the city adding the most jobs in the Beehive State. The city saw a 28.5 percent increase, which is just under 12 percent higher than the state average increase of 16.8 percent.

The city added 3,800 jobs, according to 24/7 Wall Street.

Jobs have fluttered to Utah because of trade, transportation and utility work, according to 24/7 Wall St.

To find this, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed 398 cities on their job growth and labor force statistics from June 2012 to June 2017. Data came from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services, the state's unemployment rate stood at 3.4 percent in June.

“Utah’s economy remains on solid footing, with nearly 50,000 new jobs added,” Carrie Mayne, chief economist at the Utah Department of Workforce Services, said. “While the unemployment rate showed a slight uptick, the expansionary trend in jobs means today’s job seeker will likely become tomorrow’s jobholder.”

It helps that Utah has continuously been ranked as one of the best states for business. Late last year, Forbes put Utah as the top state for business for the third straight year. It also held the title from 2010 to 2012.
