SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed Sunday that a sister missionary was killed in Guatemala.
Heidi Andrea Ortega Huber, 22, died on Saturday after coming in contact with a live electrical wire, according to church spokesman Eric Hawkins. Details on how she came in contact with the wire were not immediately available.
Ortega, who is from the Santiago Chile Independencia Stake, was serving in the Guatemala City Central Mission, Hawkins said. She had been there since April 2016.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Sister Ortega as they mourn her passing, and we pray they will be given comfort during this difficult time," he said.
