PROVO — The BYU men’s basketball team will tip off the 2017-18, 18-game West Coast Conference season at the Marriott Center the week after Christmas and the Cougars will finish at home against last year’s NCAA runner-up Gonzaga in late February.

Like last season, WCC teams will face a double round-robin schedule format without travel partners and without byes. Of the nine-week compressed conference schedule, BYU will have a road game and a home game in the same week three times.

The Cougars, who finished No. 3 in the WCC standings last season, will open the league slate by hosting Portland (Dec. 28) and Saint Mary’s (Dec. 30).

BYU will visit Gonzaga, where the Cougars have won three straight years, on Feb. 3. The Cougars shocked the No. 1 ranked, undefeated Zags 79-71 last February. Gonzaga ended up advancing to the NCAA Tournament championship game, where it fell to North Carolina.

The Zags make their trip to the Marriott Center for the regular-season finale on Feb. 24.

Tipoff times and broadcast information will be released at a later time.

The WCC will hold its annual tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas (March 1-6) for the 10th consecutive year.
