OGDEN — The Ogden City Council adopted a $165 million budget for the 2018 fiscal year, following a truth-in-taxation hearing Tuesday.

As part of the budget, the council approved a proposal to maintain the 2017 property tax rate instead of adopting the lower certified tax rate, which will produce 7.2 percent more revenue, enabling the city to begin to adjust for the impacts of three decades of inflation.

Other highlights of the budget include step pay increases for public safety employees, merit pay increases for general employees, and salary adjustments for those employed with the city during years that pay increases weren’t awarded.

The public had opportunities at three public hearings and two virtual town halls to provide input on this year’s budget before its approval.
