I read a letter in this paper regarding how Kenya bans the use of plastic bags ("Ban plastic bags in Senegal," Sept. 15). However, I wanted to inform this person that the states of Hawaii and California have also banned plastic bags. And Hawaii probably did this years before Kenya. And having lived there for 30 years, I can tell you it really made a big difference in the landfills.
