COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A man hit and killed by a car was "moving in and out" of traffic and even lying in the road before being hit, according to police.
Nathan Brown, 36, was hit about 7 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Fort Union Boulevard and Highland Drive. The SUV that hit Brown left the scene, but the driver called police a short time later, said Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Ryan Shosted.
The driver, a woman whose identity was not released, told police she did not immediately realize she had hit a person, Shosted said. The woman drove home but then called police while they were still at the scene, he said.
Witnesses told police that Brown was "intentionally" going in and out of traffic prior to the accident. Shosted did not know whether Brown was lying in the road when he was hit.
The driver has been cooperating with police, he said. The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office will screen the case to decide if the woman should face any charges.
