Nick Rimando re-signs with Real Salt Lake

As Real Salt Lake's 2017 season ended without a playoff berth for the second year in a row, there was uncertainty that franchise legends Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando would return given that both had finished out their contracts.

But Beckerman formally re-signed a week ago, and on Tuesday morning, the club announced that Rimando has as well.

Major League Soccer's all-time leader in wins, appearances, starts and shutouts, the "Wall of the Wasatch" has also played in six All-Star games. This year will mark his 12th in MLS.

“I couldn’t be happier continuing my career with Real," Rimando said in a statement. "This is home and I couldn’t fathom leaving this club that means so much to me.”

RSL began training on Monday in preparation for its season opener March 3 against FC Dallas.

“I was here in the glory days and want to help bring this club back where it belongs," said Rimando, who was MVP of the club’s 2009 MLS Cup title. "I’m excited to get the season started. We have the coaches, players and potential to do big things.”
