Mitt Romney just made a switch to his Twitter profile page that might indicate a Senate run.
News reports across the web have indicated that Romney will run for Senate now that Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, has announced his retirement. Hatch plans to finish out the year in office before retiring.
Romney, who is registered to vote in Utah, made his potential Senate run semi-official on Twitter on Tuesday by switching his location, according to CNN.
Before Hatch’s announcement, Romney listed his location as “Massachusetts.” After Hatch announced he was retiring, Romney switched his location to Holladay, Utah.
See the switch in the tweet below.
Multiple news sources indicate Romney will run for the Senate. The Daily Beast cited a “source close to Romney” that he will run and will hold off his announcement so he doesn’t take any spotlight away from Hatch.
CBS reported on Wednesday morning that Romney indeed plans to run.
Romney responded to Hatch’s announcement in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
"As chairman of the Senate Finance and Judiciary Committees and as the longest-serving Republican senator in US history, Senator Hatch has represented the interests of Utah with distinction and honor," Romney said. "Ann and I wish Senator Orrin Hatch and his loving wife Elaine all the best in their future endeavors."
