SALT LAKE CITY — The Eagles recently added four new dates to its 2018 tour — including a stop in Salt Lake City at Vivint Arena on May 3.
The classic 1970s country-rock band behind mega-hits such as “Take it Easy,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and “Hotel California,” still includes founding member Don Henley, as well as longtime members Joe Walsh and Timothy Schmit. Following the death of lead singer Glenn Frey in 2016, Henley expressed doubt that the band would be able to perform again. But the Eagles regrouped and continued to perform in 2017 with guest musicians Deacon Frey — son of Glenn Frey — and country singer Vince Gill. In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Henley talked about hearing Deacon Frey perform “Peaceful Easy Feeling” at his father’s memorial service.
“As difficult as that might have been, he was so brave and composed,” the singer and drummer said. “I’m sure, on the inside, he was churning. After a few months went by I thought, ‘Why not see if he would like to be in the band? … The only way it felt justified to me was to have family blood in the band.”
The band kicks off its tour in Indianapolis on March 12, and will bring “An Evening with the Eagles” to more than 30 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Tickets go on sale online starting Friday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. MST through ticketmaster.com. American Express card members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets before the general public beginning Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, Jan. 11 at 10 p.m. MST, according to a news release.
