PROVO — The Utah Transit Authority has scheduled a public hearing on proposed changes to four bus routes in Utah County.
The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Provo City Library, 550 N. University Ave. If approved, the changes would go into effect April 8.
UTA wants to eliminate two weekday trips on routes 833 and 834. Route 834 would be extended to the intersection of Center and State streets in Orem to allow for transfers to route 850 near the Orem city offices. In addition, Saturday trips on routes 833 and 834 would be discontinued due to low ridership.
The agency is also proposing route 840 be discontinued and replaced with additional trips on route 841. UTA officials say the change would provide customers with more seat availability between the Orem FrontRunner Station and Utah Valley University.
UTA is also proposing a new route to serve the west side of I-15 near the Lehi Station. The route would be interlined with route 863 and only offer weekday peak-hour service. Other small timing, route alignment and schedule changes would be made as needed.
Information about the proposed changes will be available at the hearing, online at rideuta.com, or at the agency’s Timpanogos Business Unit, 1110 S. Geneva Road Road, Orem.
For those who can’t attend the hearing, comment can be mailed to Erika Shubin, Utah Transit Authority, 669 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, or emailed to hearingofficer@rideuta.com. Comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than 5 p.m. Feb 3.
