OGDEN — Shelby Willis, the fire chief of Largo, Florida, has been appointed as deputy fire chief effective April 1.
Willis served in various capacities over the last 20 years with Largo Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic, emergency medical service lieutenant, division chief, deputy fire chief and chief.
In addition to her professional fire service experience, she has served as a noncommissioned police officer in the U.S. Air Force. She has a master’s degree in safety-security and emergency management and completed the Executive Fire Officer Program from the National Fire Academy.
In a statement, Ogden Fire Chief Mike Mathieu said Willis will “bring new ideas, views and experiences that will undoubtedly help Ogden Fire Department to improve and grow.”
