The death of Jon M. Huntsman Sr. continues to hit the Utah community hard.
The billionaire businessman and former Area Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed away Friday afternoon, surrounded by family, at 80 years of age.
Numerous friends, supporters and relatives have come forward to pay their respect with tributes, including Utah Jazz owner Gail Miller.
Huntsman provided mentorship to the Miller family for many years.
“Jon was a close friend, adviser and confidant to Larry and me as well as our family,” Miller said through a written statement. “He and Larry spent countless hours discussing items both business and personal.
“After Larry passed away, Jon continued this support and met with my family and me many times. He was also a faithful supporter of the Jazz, and his presence in our lives and at the arena will be greatly missed. Jon added so much to our family and faith.”
The Miller family bonded with Huntsman on a much deeper level than just business and philanthropy, they knew him as a man.
“Jon was thoughtful, kind and generous with his time and resources and has had an immeasurable impact on our family as well as countless people around the world,” Miller wrote. “On behalf of the entire Miller family and my husband Kim Wilson (whose long friendship with Jon precedes our marriage), we express our profound love to Karen and the entire Huntsman family. We are deeply saddened at the loss of such an incredible friend.”
