SALT LAKE CITY — A 25-year-old skateboarder suffered a broken leg in a hit-and-run crash Sunday.
Just after 7 a.m., Austin Bryson was skateboarding on 500 East when he was hit from behind by a car near Harvard Avenue, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Mark Buhman. After hitting Bryson, the driver kept going, Buhman said.
There were no witnesses to the crash, but nearby residents heard it and came to the man's aid, Buhman said. According to a GoFundMe fundraiser set up by Bryson's girlfriend, Bryson suffered a "severely broken leg," minor injuries to his spine, and a "serious scalp laceration." Graphic pictures of his head injury were posted on the GoFundMe page.
The fundraiser is for his hospital and upcoming rehabilitation bills.
The only description detectives have of the vehicle is a white sedan, Buhman said.
Anyone with information on the incident can call police at 801-799-3000.
