SALT LAKE CITY — Time to meet the young Han Solo.
The first “Solo: A Star Wars Story” trailer dropped on Monday morning following a teaser trailer on Sunday night during the Super Bowl.
The film will show the early years of Han Solo, the hero from the original Star Wars films. Alden Ehrenreich will take on the titular role, grabbing the reins from Harrison Ford.
In the trailer, viewers learn that Solo is a spirited — and cocky — young pilot in search of a greater destiny, something not uncommon in Star Wars films.

Rumors ran wild for weeks before the Super Bowl that Disney would unveil the film’s first trailer during the big game. Instead, fans were treated to a brief teaser.
With Ron Howard as director, “Solo” stars Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson (“Zombieland”), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) will also be in the film.
The movie debuts on May 25, 2018.
Twitter reactions to the trailer were mixed. Many celebrated Glover for his appearance.
The Han Solo movie looks....not good. Disney, please don’t wreck one of the most imaginative series ever by stripping it bone dry.— Neera Tanden (@neeratanden) February 5, 2018
Okay! SOLO response is: you know, okay? I'd wash a Star Wars branded washing machine wash clothes for two hours, so I'm not really a discerning judge. I'm hopeful, but also not like, squirming giddily in my chair.— Chuck Wendig (@ChuckWendig) February 5, 2018
