GRANTSVILLE — A fire gutted the clubhouse of the Big Shot Ranch north of Grantsville before dawn Monday morning, causing up to $400,000 in damage.
Two dozen firefighters struggled to douse the flames. There's no water source nearby, and the crews had to be very cautious because ammunition can explode when it heats up, said North Tooele Fire District spokesman Ryan Willden.

"It's too common for fires like this in rural areas where we arrive on site and there's not enough water," Willden said. His agency was starting to require that landowners who build commercial structures have a water supply on site, he added.
He ruled the building a total loss and estimated damage at up to $400,000.
Investigators were working to determine what caused the fire at the ranch, 6711 Higley Road. The blaze was reported about 4:30 a.m.
In 2013, a fire also destroyed a building at the Tooele Gun Club nearby.
