SALT LAKE CITY — The American Red Cross in Utah is asking residents to join the organization in supporting families impacted by disaster and #help1family during Red Cross Giving Day on Wednesday, March 28.
Donations will go toward providing urgent relief such as food, blankets and other essentials to people who need it most.
According to the Red Cross, each year the humanitarian organization responds to about 64,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. In Utah alone, the Red Cross said that on average it responds to a home fire every three to four days.
According to the organization, a donation of $88.50 will provide a family of three with food, shelter and other essentials for one day; a donation of $60 can help provide six meals for disaster victims; and a donation of $30 can provide six blankets, ensuring victims stay warm and can get a good night's sleep.
