SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake County Library will celebrate the Year of the Pig and several Asian countries, cultures and customs during a Chinese New Year event.

The free celebration is open to the public and will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the library’s Viridian Event Center, 8030 S. 1825 West.

The Year of the Pig celebrates prosperity, wealth, hard work and good fortune. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about Chinese New Year in a fun environment with authentic performances, decorations, crafts and treats from China. There will also be storytimes presented in Chinese.
