Partridges, pear trees and golden rings — that’s what you expect to receive during the 12 days of Christmas.

But a woman in Australia got something a little more slithery... a python.

What happened: A woman in Australia found a 10-foot python snake inside her Christmas tree, CNN reports.

  • Leanne Chapman and her partner went home to find a bunch of birds hanging out on their balcony, creating a scene there. Her partner began recording the birds on video.
  • Chapman: “As he’s turned around and stepped back, he didn’t realize he was leaning on the Christmas tree with the snake wrapped around it.
  • The couple left the snake alone. Later that night, it left their balcony.
  • Chapman: “It wasn’t bothered by us. It just stayed there for a good few hours as we watched it through the window,” Chapman said, according to 7 News.

Not alone: In the United Kingdom, a man reportedly found a dead snake inside his Christmas wreath, according to Fox News.

  • He said he bought the wreath from a supermarket. He brought it home. The snake had grey scales on its back. It smelled bad, too. He later discovered that it was a dead grass snake.
