Nathan Polit tried to enter Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom on Sunday. But police stopped him when they found a gun inside his bag, USA Today reports.

What happened: Polit said he “forgot” that he had the gun in his bag, an arrest affidavit explained, according to USA Today.

  • Police said Polit entered the “no bag line” when trying to pass through security even though he had a bag, according to Click Orlando.
  • Police said they believed he didn’t intend to declare he had a firearm at that moment.
  • Polit was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm. He was also given a trespassing warning for Walt Disney World, Click Orlando reports.

Details: Polit said he put the gun in his bag overnight. He was worried someone would steal it out of his car.

  • Polit said he didn’t have a permit for the gun, which was a 9mm Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol.
  • The gun was loaded at the time.
  • Officer Michael Lappas arrested Polit for carrying the concealed gun. He said Polit “had no intentions of declaring his firearm to any uniform security or law enforcement and (chose) to enter the no bag line with his concealed firearm and would have entered the park armed with a loaded and concealed firearm.”
