South Korean boy band star Kim Nam-joon admitted that he just bought his 34th pair of Apple’s headphones, the New York Post reports.

What happened: Nam-joon said in a recently live-streamed video over the weekend that he has lost 33 pairs of AirPods.

  • A fan commented on the live-streaming video, explaining his own personal story about losing AirPods.
  • He said he still sees the names of his old pairs of headphones whenever he opens up his settings to connect new pairs to his phone.

What it means: A Twitter user figured out that the rapper likely spent about $8,000 on AirPods.

  • “Sprinkling AirPods all over the globe like a little AirPod fairy,” another fan wrote.

Why it matters: Apple AirPods are nefarious for getting lost easily ever since they launched in 2016, per Business Insider.

  • Part of it is because the headphones are cordless and flimsy on the ear. That’s why Nordstrom, and other places, are selling straps for people to connect the AirPods together.
  • “This leads to a lot of AirPods being discarded to landfill,” according 9to5 Mac. “It’s as good a time as any to remind people that Apple does offer free recycling of AirPods (and pretty much any technology item) at Apple Stores. Just take your AirPods in and they will send them off for processing.”
