As “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” opened across the county this weekend, Utahns gave the new film an especially warm welcome, according to a press release from Megaplex Theatres.

Seven of the top 40 theater locations in the United States and Canada for the opening of the “Star Wars” finale were at Megaplex Theatres in Utah, according to the release.

“Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” had the third-largest box office opening of the year, earning $175.5 million over the weekend of its release, The Associated Press reported.

Here’s where Utah’s theaters ranked in the top 40 locations, according to the press release from Megaplex:

No. 3: Megaplex Theatres at The District in South Jordan

No. 6: Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons in Sandy

No. 16: Megaplex Theatres at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi

No. 19: Megaplex Theatres at Geneva in Vineyard

No. 40: Megaplex Theatres at The Gateway in Salt Lake City

Before the release of “The Rise of Skywalker,” nearly 300 fans also participated in a 25-hour “Star Wars” marathon at the Megaplex Theatres at The District in South Jordan, according to the release from Megaplex.
