Lauryn Hall, Davis (Fr.)
If Lauryn Hall was nervous for her first state meet, it didn’t show. The Davis freshman had a great showing last weekend at BYU as she won the 6A individual title in both the 50 free and 100 free.
She won the 50 free with a time of 24.91 and the 100 free with a time of 55.34.
Her 100 free time ranks in the top 15 in the state.
“I love Lauryn. She is every coach's dream. In addition to being a dedicated and talented swimmer, she is spirited, positive and always happy — a true leader that draws other kids to her,” said Davis coach Kit Barker. “Her sense of humor is so contagious. You hear a laugh and know that Lauryn is nearby and something good is happening. She was under tremendous pressure at this meet and came out on top. She locked and jammed her elbow coming into the wall in her record-breaking 50 freestyle, but she still had three more events to swim, so she pushed through the pain, took another first and anchored the two relays breaking two more school records in the process.”
Hall’s 50 free time is a new 6A state record.

McKay Foy, Altamont (Sr.)
Foy wrapped up his high school career in grand style last week. Foy pinned all four of his opponents at the 2A state tournament in Richfield to claim the 170-pound individual title.
The Altamont senior finishes his career as a four-time state champion.

Casey Brown, Pleasant Grove (Sr.)
Casey Brown has taken his game to the next level this year as he tries to lead Pleasant Grove to the state title.
Brown ranks fifth in 6A averaging 17.3 points per game. Last week in a 71-59 win over Westlake he came up huge with 20 points and nine rebounds.
“Casey is having a phenomenal senior season. His combination of poise, leadership and skill is as high as any player I've coached. Night in and night out he puts up the numbers necessary and does all the little things we have to have done to compete against the state’s best teams. And as good as he is on offense, he's every bit that good on defense,” said Pleasant Grove coach Randy McAllister.
For the season Brown is averaging 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals.

Shalyn Fano, Timpview (Sr.)
Fano had a huge week in leading Timpview to a pair of region wins.
The biggest of the bunch came against Corner Canyon last Tuesday, which likely earned the T-Birds a share of the Region 7 title. She scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead her team to the 52-44 win.
“Shay does absolutely everything for us. There are multiple times every game where she starts a possession as our point, breaks pressure, sets up an offense, and works her way into the post where she gets us a tough bucket. I don’t envy others who have to game plan for her,” said Timpview coach Aimee Dorais. “The skill Shay has of finding an advantage against whatever type of defender teams put against her is unmatched. She’s the perfect example of the modern-day hybrid player. I can call her name for any defensive matchup or any offensive look. She does it all.”
Fano is averaging 19.4 points this season for Timpview.

“Alex is a natural team leader and an exceptional swimmer that always comes through,” said Olympus coach Tom Thorum.
He finishes the season with the seventh-best time in the 100 free in the entire state and the eighth-best time in the 50 free.
