Photos: Yogurt company donates $5,000 to Salt Lake City to keep parks green, pesticide free

Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski accepts a $5,000 check from Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of Stonyfield Organic, at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City on Saturday. Salt Lake City teamed up with the yogurt company to host a day of family activities to launch a pesticide-free maintenance program at the regional complex, as well as Sunnyside and Wespointe Parks. The donated money will be used to convert two fields at the Regional Athletic Complex to organic land care maintenance methods. The company will also pledge an additional $40,000 to help implement best management practices that could be scaled up at the regional complex, aiming to make it the first sports complex in the nation with professional-grade fields being maintained organically.
