SALT LAKE CITY — The Boss is back.
Bruce Springsteen announced on Twitter Thursday that he will be releasing a new album called “Western Stars” on June 15. It’s the first record with new and original songs that Springsteen has released since 2012, according to the Rolling Stone.
“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements. It's a jewel box of a record,” Bruce Springsteen tweeted Thursday.

According to a press release provided to the Rolling Stone, “the 13 tracks of Western Stars encompass a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.”
More than 20 musicians play on the album, including E Street Band keyboard player David Sancious, violinist Soozie Tyrell and organist Charlie Giordano from the current group, according to Rolling Stone.
Springsteen said the first track, “Hello Sunshine,” will drop Friday. Fans can also preorder his new album that day.
Springsteen’s announcement drummed up a lot of excitement on social media.
Inspired by “Southern California pop records of the late ’60s and early ’70s” + the presence of Jon Brion has me excited for the potential of more "Girls In Their Summer Clothes"/"Queen of the Supermarket" vibes. https://t.co/dEVt34CgPx— Jason P. Woodbury (@jasonpwoodbury) April 25, 2019
