LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Utah Valley sophomore golfer Jake Bryson sits alone in fourth place at 1-under-par 141 (69-72) after two rounds of play at the WAC Men's Golf Championship at Oakbrook Golf Club.
"Jake is in good shape," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. "He will need to go post a number tomorrow. We've got nothing to lose."
Utah Valley dropped four places on the team leaderboard after carding a second-round score of 22-over-par 306 on Sunday. The Wolverines are alone in sixth place with a two-round score of 24-over-par 592 (286-306). Kansas City sits atop the team leaderboard after two rounds of play with a score of even par 568 (290-278).
Bryson carded a 1-over-par 72 on Sunday and is now alone in fourth place at 1-under-par 141 (69-72). Bryson took the lead at the tournament after dropping in a birdie on the 505-yard par-5 14th hole, but finished the final four holes at 3-over-par to drop to fourth place. Bryson recorded three birdies and 12 pars during second round play.
Bryson is just two shots behind Grand Canyon's Jake Chanen (-3) for the top spot on the individual leaderboard. Two Kansas City golfers are tied for second at 2-under-par 140, followed by Bryson in fourth.
Jake Godfrey shot a 3-over-par 74 on Sunday and is now tied for 13th with a two-round score of 3-over-par 145 (71-74). Godfrey carded one birdie and 14 pars on Sunday.
Gabe Lysen carded a 9-over-par 80 on Sunday and is now tied for 23rd with a two-day score of 7-over-par 149 (69-80). Zane Loveland shot a 9-over-par 80 in round two and is alone in 35th place at 15-over-par 157 (77-80). Nick St. Clair rounded out Sunday's scoring with a 9-over-par 80 and is in the 37th spot with a two-day total of 18-over-par 160 (80-80).
