ST. GEORGE — Dixie State senior Yolena Carlon has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Carlon helped the Trailblazers to a 3-1 record on their northern California road swing last week, playing to a 3-1 record at No. 1 singles. She earned her first win of the week at Mills College on Friday, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph. One day later, Carlon rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory to clinch DSU’s win at Holy Names. Carlon closed the week with another dominant win, a 6-1, 6-2 result against UC Santa Cruz on Sunday. Carlon’s lone loss of the week came in a tough 6-3, 6-2 battle against the No. 12 player in all of NCAA Division II. She also helped DSU pick up No. 1 doubles victories against Mills and UCSC.
The Trailblazers travel to Colorado this week for key RMAC matches against CSU-Pueblo and MSU Denver.
