SALT LAKE CITY — Rumors about “Star Wars: Episode IX” have run rampant enough to make a person jaded, justifiably so.
But this week there is a new hope on the horizon suggesting that we may finally have our first real look at “Episode IX” as soon as Friday.
Here’s what we know:
From Thursday, April 11 to Monday, April 15, Star Wars fans across the country will gather for the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago.
On Friday morning at 10 a.m. MT, director J.J. Abrams is expected to sit down with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy during a “Star Wars: Episode IX” panel to discuss the upcoming film, according to the event's website. The celebration will be streamed live on the Star Wars YouTube channel as well as StarWars.com.
According to the Star Wars Celebration website, “you can count on plenty of surprises and special guests to keep your imagination buzzing” during the “Episode IX” panel.
Here’s why that could mean a trailer
It wouldn’t be the first time a trailer has premiered at the Star Wars Celebration. The first trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” premiered during the Star Wars Celebration in 2017.
In February, ComicBook.com reported that the trailer might premiere around the time “Avengers: Endgame” releases in theaters.
At any rate, with the upcoming “Episode: IX” panel on the horizon, we’ll finally get details about the upcoming “Star Wars” film.
“Star Wars: Episode IX” hits theaters December 20.
