Dad, daughter on motorcycle sent to hospital after four-vehicle crash in Springville

SPRINGVILLE — A 41-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter were undergoing treatment at a Utah County hospital Sunday after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by a car that apparently ran a red light, according to Springville police.

The accident, which involved four vehicles, occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of 400 East and 400 South.

The driver of a Subaru Impreza car apparently ran the stop light at 400 South and struck the pair on the westbound motorcycle in the intersection, pushing them into another car, said Springville Police Lt. Warren Foster. The father and daughter were both wearing helmets.

The father sustained head and leg injuries, according to police. The girl had leg injuries but they were not believed to be life threatening.

After hitting the motorcycle, the Subaru then struck another vehicle. The car's driver, a 44-year-old woman, was under investigation for impaired driving, Foster said.

None of the other drivers were injured, Foster said.
