CEDAR CITY — Officials in a southern Utah city are considering whether to preserve a painted image of a Native American and the name "Redmen" on a water tank or allow it to be changed.

The Spectrum reports the Cedar City Council reviewed last week two competing resolutions on the Leigh Hill water tank.

One measure would designate the tank as a city marker, keeping the image and name of the former Cedar High School mascot.

The second measure would allow schools to decide what goes on the tank and a second water tank in town.

Under the second measure, representatives from the town's two high schools would submit proposals for the tanks to the City Council.
