PROVO — Bryce Ayoso's double in the eighth inning scored Alex Wolfe for the winning run in a 12-11 BYU victory over UNLV Thursday night.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 9-11 overall and 2-2 in Mountain West Conference play, while the Rebels fall to 14-9 and 0-1.
"I was pleased our offense continued to battle back," BYU coach Vance Law said. "We swung our bats pretty well."
Things were quiet on offense in the first inning for both teams until a solo home run by Wolfe gave BYU the 1-0 lead. The sophomore Wolfe led the squad on the night, getting a team-high four hits in five at-bats, homering thus far in each of BYU's four home games.
