SALT LAKE CITY — Disney released the first trailer for “The Mandalorian” on Friday at the D23 Expo, an annual convention centered around Disney products and entities.
The trailer, which you can watch below, hints at a post-”Return of the Jedi” galaxy far, far away. The trailer shows off stormtrooper helmets plastered on stakes and quick shots of the desert, a likely nod to either Jakku or Tatooine.
“Then it moves into ‘Star Wars’ action — fighting spaceships, battling droids, and face-to-face confrontations. It certainly feels freakier than a traditional ‘Star Wars’ movie, but it also feels extremely ‘Star Wars,’” according to The Verge.

“The Mandalorian” will be the first original show to drop on Disney Plus when it arrives on Nov. 12 of this year.
Jon Favreau will serve as director for the show.
Favreau told The Hollywood Reporter that the show gave him an “opportunity to tell a story that’s bigger than television, but you don’t have the same expectations that a big holiday release has, which to me isn’t that type of ‘Star Wars’ that comes out of me.”
