SALT LAKE CITY — Calling all singers.

The Utah Jazz is once again holding auditions to perform the national anthem at home games during the 2019-20 NBA season.

Auditions will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Vivint Smart Home Arena, 301 S. Temple.

Composer Kurt Bestor will serve as a judge alongside Jazz personnel.

Auditions are open to individuals and small ensembles of up to eight performers of all ages. Instrumentalists are also encouraged to try out. Audition order is organized on a first-come, first-served basis. Assigned audition numbers will be given upon registration. Participants can access the arena through the main entrance on the plaza.

If applicants are unable to attend the live audition, a recorded CD version of the performance can be mailed to Utah Jazz National Anthem Auditions, c/o Carly Robbins, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, or submitted via email to crobbins@utahjazz.com.

All CDs must be received by Monday, Sept. 9. However, it is strongly recommended that applicants attend the live audition.

The Utah Jazz require the national anthem be sung a cappella and in a traditional manner, with no styling or individual musical interpretation. All applicants will be notified by email if they have been invited to perform the national anthem.
