SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Utes’ run of consecutive wins on the gridiron over the BYU Cougars reached nine on Thursday night, and with yet another victory came a rather high level of satisfaction from Ute faithful on Twitter.
That was perhaps embodied best via head coach Kyle Whittingham’s account, which tweeted simply, “#NineIsHere” soon after the contest concluded.
The Utah Football official account was rather bold, as it posted a pre-made video of quarterback Tyler Huntley counting to nine with his fingers and posted a photo of sad BYU fans with a snarky caption.
From the Utah Athletics account, a video recapping the last nine wins was also posted, and the official university account quoted that tweet with, “It’s been a great decade.”
Ute fans also proudly expressed how they felt about the win.

Naturally, reaction from BYU fans was different.
Aye bros. Wasn’t the outcome we wanted. I still support the calls and all. Let’s get better for next week. @BYUfootball— Lapuaho (@ulapuaho) August 30, 2019
Well, the better team won. I saw a few things that made me excited for this year. But it’s a bummer to start with a loss.— Cole Duke (@cole_duke) August 30, 2019
While Ute fans were reveling in victory, at least one was already looking forward to when the two teams meet again next September.
