Former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake says ‘at least 35’ Republican senators would vote for Trump impeachment

Former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake said that at least 35 Republican senators would secretly vote for President Donald Trump’s impeachment, according to Fox News.

Flake, who spoke at the 2019 Texas Tribune Festival, said GOP senators would back impeachment.

“I heard someone say if there were a private vote there would be 30 Republican votes. That’s not true,” Flake said during a Q&A. “There would be at least 35.”

Similar: GOP political consultant Mike Murphy said on MSNBC Wednesday that there are plenty of Republican lawmakers who would support impeachment if they voted on a “secret ballot.”

“I can tell you this ... one Republican senator told me if it was a secret vote, 30 Republican senators would vote to impeach Trump,” Murphy said.
