SOUTH JORDAN — Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution has formed a new chapter that will serve communities in southwest Salt Lake County.

The Spirit of America Chapter was organized under the direction of Susan Holt, regent of the Utah State Society, and approved by the DAR’s national board of management.

Dawn Fleishans will serve as the organizing regent with 23 charter members.

The chapter, the 10th in Utah, will meet at the South Jordan Library, 10673 S. Redwood Road, on the second Saturday of each month September through May. All meetings are open to the public. Its first meeting will be on Sept. 14.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descendants from those who fought or provided aid during the Revolutionary War.
