OGDEN - After leading the Wildcats to a win in the home opener, Weber State sophomore running back Josh Davis has been named the ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week.
Davis ran for 129 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 41-24 win over Cal Poly. He ran for a 22-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, then followed up with an 18-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.
He finished the night with 14 carries to reach 129 yards, averaging 9.2 yards per carry. He also had five catches for 35 yards, giving him 164 all-purpose yards.
Davis, a native of Sandy, Utah, won the Jerry Rice Award as a freshman in 2018 as the National Freshman of the Year.
This is his first career Big Sky Player of the Week honor.
The Wildcats head back on the road at Nevada on Saturday at 5 p.m. Mountain time in Reno.
