Former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl received some heavy-handed criticism from her former co-star Isaiah Washington on Twitter this week.

What happened:

Washington shared a photo of Heigl in a tweet, which accused the actress of saying that Washington should never speak again in public.

  • “This woman once proclaimed that I should ‘never’ be allowed to speak publicly again,” he wrote. “The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007, because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”

Reaction:

One fan responded: “What speaks to your strength are the lessons you have learned and how you have moved on in a positive way.”

Washington replied: “I’ve learned that all money ain’t good money and no amount of money can replace your dignity and integrity. Some call it living by your principles.”

Heigl has yet to respond to the controversy or Washington’s comments.

Is it true?

In 2007, Heigl reportedly said Washington “needs to just not speak in public” after she had alleged Washington had said a homophobic slur about a co-star on set.

  • ABC booted Washington off the show for the next season. Washington later apologized, and he returned to show briefly in 2014.
