Apple introduced a number of new features to its iPhone operating system with the iOS 14 update, giving people more control over their phones and changes that will make life easier.

What are the changes?

You can now customize your home screen ... majorly — The new iOS will allow you to add widgets to the home screen, allowing you to customize things in ways you never have been before, as The Verge reports. You can add your fitness tracker, the weather widget, Apple Music widgets and more. These will appear bigger than the app squares. Android users will recognize this design from their home screens.

An app library — The new iOS will add a new App Library view, which allows you to hide apps on the home screen and find them through the library. Through this feature, Apple will automatically organize apps into lists and groups, according to The Verge.

Picture in picture is here — The changes to the iOS will allow for proper picture-in-picture on your iPhone. Simply, the feature allows people to watch videos as they use other apps. You can swipe through apps and use different features while a video plays in the lower corner in a different frame.

Calls no longer take over the entire screen — Now, when you’re using your phone, a small widget for the phone call will appear at the top. But it won’t take up your entire screen — merely the top third. This allows you to still read and use your phone as calls come in.

Pinned messages are here — Yes. You can now pin conversations in your iMessage folder, making it easier to find the constant conversations you’re always searching for.

Reply to your friends directly in group messages — Like Discord, Slack and Facebook Messenger, the new iMessage will allow people to directly reply and message people within the same group chat. So you can now directly reply to your friend rather than clog up the entire group chat, and avoid the confusion of people not knowing who you’re replying to in the chat.

Time to wind down — The new iOS will include a wind down feature, which helps you prepare for sleep. Your phone will go into do not disturb mode and will help you find your relaxing apps easier. The sleep app helps track sleep and sleep schedule, too.

New car key featureApple will add a new feature that acts as a CarKey. Your phone would add a key fob-like widget, which allows you to open your car with your phone, according to 9to5 Mac. Apple is working with a BMW to support the feature.

This story will be updated.
