“Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” will be coming to Disney+ just in time for Valentine’s Day.
What’s going on?
Disney+ announced Thursday morning that “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” will hit the streaming service on Friday, Feb. 12.
- The televised movie musical stars Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as Fairy Godmother.
- The musical also features Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Natalie Desselle Reid, Bernadette Peters, Paolo Montalban, Jason Alexander and Veanne Cox.
- “The Wonderful World of Disney” program debuted on ABC on Nov. 2, 1997, according to a press release emailed to Deseret News. The debut had 60 million viewers.

Brandy announced the movie’s debut on “The View” Thursday morning alongside co-star Goldberg.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film’s “multicultural world — with a Black Cinderella, and an Asian Prince with a white father and Black mother — has helped not only make it timeless, but age well as a precursor to projects like ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Bridgerton.’”
