“American Idol” is celebrating Mother’s Day Sunday night — and cutting down the competition to five singers.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect during the episode.
Will ‘American Idol’ air on Mother’s Day?
Since the “American Idol” schedule falls on Mother’s Day this Sunday, the show is dedicating part of the show to moms.
The seven contestants left in the competition will pick a song to perform and dedicate it to a special loved one, Variety reported.
Each “Idol” contender will also all perform a Coldplay song, and be mentored by the band’s frontman, Chris Martin, according to Variety.
Viewers will have the chance to vote for their favorite singers as the episode airs. “American Idol” will eliminate two contestants and reveal the top five at the end of Sunday night’s episode.
The two-hour episode will air on ABC at 6 p.m. MT.
How do you vote on ‘American Idol’?
“American Idol” provides three voting options: online at idolvote.abc.com; through “Idol” apps that can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play Store; and texting a contestant’s corresponding number — given during the episode — to “21523,” the Deseret News previously reported.
Who has a shot at the ‘American Idol’ top five?
After last week’s Disney-themed episode, the following seven singers have a shot at making the top 5:
- Grace Kinstler
- Casey Bishop
- Caleb Kennedy
- Willie Spence
- Chayce Beckham
- Hunter Metts
- Arthur Gunn
