“Star Wars” legend Liam Neeson just threw some cold water on rumors that he would appear in the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Disney+ series.
Will Liam Neeson appear on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series?
Neeson recently had an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to talk about his new Netflix movie, “The Ice Road.” He was asked about a potential appearance on the upcoming “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Disney+ series.
- Neeson played Qui-Gon Jinn, the former Jedi Master who helped train Obi-Wan Kenobi. Though he died in “The Phantom Menace” at the hands of Darth Maul, he later communicated with Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Force Ghost, according to “Star Wars” canon.
Neeson said he was not approached to appear on the new show, though, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- “I heard Ewan McGregor was going to do a series,” Neeson said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached.”
- Neeson suggested the show couldn’t afford him — which may have been a joke. Kimmel then hinted that Neeson could be lying about a potential appearance.
Liam Neeson hints at ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ return
In January 2021, Neeson told Collider.com he would return as Qui-Gon Jinn if he was asked to do so. Neeson said he wasn’t aware that fans wanted him to return in the role, though, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- “Sure, I’d be up for that, yeah.”
