Kanye West wants to be known as Ye.

Not Kanye. Not Kanye West. Just Ye. No middle name or last name involved.

Per The Associated Press, Kanye West has filed new court documents in the Los Angeles Superior Court to legally change his name to Ye. He said in the filing he wants to get rid of his full name — Kanye Omari West — so he can become Ye.

  • Ye has been a long-held nickname by the musical artist and producer. He has also briefly gone by Yeezus, Yeezy and (for a short time) Yandhi.
  • West wants to change his name for “personal reasons,” according to The Associated Press.
