“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is coming out this weekend, and fans have already speculated about which other Marvel heroes may make an appearance.

One name that’s come up? Ant-Man.

After all, “Shang-Chi” takes place in San Francisco, which is the same city where Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) lives in during the events of “Ant-Man” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” He briefly returns there during “Avengers: Endgame.”

So does Ant-Man makes an appearance in the new “Shang-Chi” movie? Well, we don’t really know yet since it’s not out.

But “Shang-Chi” producer Jonathan Schwartz confirmed to The Direct there were discussions about bringing in other heroes for the film. However, it’s unclear who those heroes are.

  • “We did talk about other characters who might make sense, both in San Francisco and elsewhere, so there are a few different iterations (with) other folks who could have popped up,” Schwartz told The Direct. “I think there’s always a little bit of give and take there. But you know, the script evolved over time, into what it was, and ultimately we were telling Shang’s story, so I think we’re very happy with the version that ended up on screen.”

We know from the “Shang-Chi” trailer that Abomination — the villain in “Incredible Hulk” — makes an appearance in a cage-fighting scene. Trailers have also hinted at Wong (Benedict Wong) from “Doctor Strange” showing up during the cage fights, too too.

  • “With regards to Shang-Chi, it sort of came down to who would be the coolest character for this moment? Who do we want to see in that ring? And then understanding who would make sense for whatever ongoing stories they have going on out there in the bigger universe,” Schwartz told The Direct.
