Jordan rallies for big win over Lehi

Jordan rallied from an early deficit, utilizing a 19-8 final period to flip the result into a 45-38 win to open region play. The Beetdiggers dominated inside, especially Edna and Fui Niumeitolu who combined to score 22 points.

“I am really proud of these girls. We have a lot of offensive threats on our team, but when shots weren’t falling, we shifted our focus to playing defense. We had just put in new principles to our defense the day before the game and the girls executed the plan. They showed a lot of heart and did what it took to get the win.”

The Pioneers were led by Jamisyn Heaton, who scored 17 points and knocked down a trio of 3-pointers. Lehi will look to rebound when they host Orem on Thursday night while Jordan travels to play at Alta.

Granger opens region play with victory

Box Score

Timera Moore dropped 18 points and made three 3-pointers for the Lancers in their victory over West. Ruby Vaituu added 20 points as well. Granger jumped out to a lead with a strong defensive second quarter where they only allowed five points.

After a high-scoring third quarter, they closed out West with a 49-44 win. The Lancers will look to continue a strong start to region play when they head to Cyprus on Friday night.

Pine View clutch down stretch

Box Score

Pine View edged out Cedar City with clutch play down the stretch. With the game tied late in the final period, the Panthers leaned on Addie Topham to hit a big three-pointer to grab the lead.

Avery Gustin and Rachel Mathis would knock down free throws in the final seconds to solidify a 47-42 victory. Emma Jensen led all scorers with 22 points while Haylee Campbell had a team high 12 points and two three-pointers for the Reds.

Davis continues strong play in region opener

Box Score

After a strong 8-1 preseason record, the Darts picked up their first region win with a victory over Layton. Davis outscored their opponent in each of the first three periods, building a 19-point lead.

The Lancers weren’t able to threaten in the fourth quarter, ending the game with a 56-41 loss. Kendra Kitchen recorded 19 points to lead Davis while Kylee Mabry added 13. Charly Stevens scored 14 points and hit a shot from downtown for Layton.
