No. 1 seed Panguitch will get a rematch of last year’s 1A finals against No. 3 seed Rich in the 1A state championship at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, as both teams got clean 3-0 sweeps over their opponent in the semifinals earlier in the day.

In 2A, No. 1 seed Parowan will play No. 2 seed Kanab at 7 p.m. as both teams also made quick work of their semifinal opponent, each with 3-0 wins.

In 1A, for the third time this season, Region 22 foes Rich and No. 2 seed Tabiona faced off, and once again Rich got the best of Tabiona.

Rich got the 25-11, 25-21, 25-20 sweep over Tabiona to earn a chance at a back-to-back state title.

Top-seeded Panguitch took care of business in the 1A semifinals with a 25-12, 25-8, 25-20 sweep over No. 4 seed Wendover.

Panguitch previously had three straight 1A championships between 2017-2019, but is 0-2 in its last two championship appearances.

This time Panguitch hopes to redeem last year’s championship loss in its rematch with Rich.

Saturday’s 1A championship between Panguitch and Rich is the first meeting of the season between the two programs.

In 2A, top-seeded Parowan got its 10th sweep in a row with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 semifinal win over North Summit. The defending champions are set to make a strong push for their second 2A state title in a row, after winning their first-ever state title last year.

For the third year in a row, Kanab earned a spot in the 2A championship game after a 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 win over No. 6 seed North Sevier.

Kanab has never won a volleyball state championship, and after coming up empty twice, it’s hoping to finish the job this year.
