These days, it seems like there's at least one studio-released film per week that isn't pre-screened for critics.

And this week, it's "Prom Night," the PG-13 rated remake of the inexplicable, 1980 cult horror hit that featured Leslie Nielsen in a dramatic role.

You can probably guess what that means. Obviously, I haven't seen it. But here's guessing it's pretty awful.

Typically when a studio refuses to show a film to critics in time for opening-day reviews, it's because the movie is lousy. Recent examples include "The Ruins," "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns," "Superhero Movie," "Shutter," "Witless Protection" and "Meet the Spartans."

And there's not one quality film in that lot. In fact, I can't recall the last time there was one that wasn't pre-screened ... maybe "The Sixth Sense" or "Bring It On."

Have you even seen something that wasn't pre-screened, like one of these movies, and actually enjoyed it?
